What you can actually do with Telegram Stars

Short answer: Stars are Telegram's internal currency, and everything they buy sits inside Telegram — paid posts, features in bots and Mini Apps, tips and paid reactions, Telegram Gifts, and advertising. They do not buy Premium, they do not transfer as a raw balance, and they do not expire.

1. Unlocking paid posts

Channel owners can put a post behind a paywall priced in Stars. Subscribers pay once and the content unlocks for them permanently. This is the most common reason an ordinary user first needs Stars — you follow a channel, hit a locked post, and discover you have no balance.

2. Paying inside bots and Mini Apps

Bots and Mini Apps charge in Stars for anything digital: an AI assistant's message quota, an in-game item, a subscription tier, an export in a tool. Telegram requires developers to use Stars for digital goods, which is why almost every paid bot now asks for them rather than a card.

3. Paid reactions

On channel posts you can leave a paid reaction, which sends Stars to the channel and shows your reaction more prominently. It is the closest thing Telegram has to a tip button, built into the post itself.

4. Tipping and supporting creators

Beyond reactions, many creators accept Stars directly as support. For the creator this is real income — Stars they earn can be withdrawn through Fragment — which is why supporting someone in Stars is meaningfully different from a like.

5. Buying and sending Telegram Gifts

Gifts are bought with Stars and sent to another user, where they appear on the recipient's profile. Limited-edition gifts have a fixed supply and can be upgraded into collectible NFT gifts, which some people trade. The recipient can keep a gift on display or convert it back into Stars.

6. Telegram Ads

Channel owners can fund Telegram Ads campaigns with Stars. For anyone promoting a channel from Uzbekistan this matters practically: it is a route into the ad system that does not require an international card.

7. Subscriptions inside channels

Beyond one-off paid posts, channels can run recurring Stars-based subscriptions for members-only content. The charge repeats from your Stars balance rather than from a card.

8. Boosting your own reach as a creator

If you run a channel, holding Stars lets you participate in the same economy your subscribers do — buying gifts to run giveaways, funding ads, and paying for the bots and tools you use to produce content. Bulk purchases make sense here in a way they rarely do for individuals.

Three things Stars do not do

• They do not buy Telegram Premium. Separate balances, no conversion. See Stars or Premium.
• They do not transfer as a raw balance. You cannot send 500 Stars to a friend's balance directly — buy a gift, or buy Stars addressed to their username.
• They do not work outside Telegram. Stars are not a general-purpose currency and have no value on any other platform.

How much to buy

The rate is flat at 240 UZS per star — there is no volume discount, so buying a large pack has no price advantage over several small ones. Buy what you need for what you are actually doing:

• 50–100 Stars (12,000–24,000 UZS) — unlocking the occasional paid post or bot feature.
• 500–1,000 Stars (120,000–240,000 UZS) — regular use, gifts, supporting creators.
• 2,500+ — channel owners running giveaways or funding ads.
