Short answer: nothing is deleted. Your account, chats, files and channel subscriptions all survive an expired Premium untouched. You simply stop having the Premium features — uploads drop back to 2 GB, ads return in public channels, and doubled limits revert. Renewing restores everything instantly, with no migration and no setup.
What you lose the moment it expires
- 4 GB uploads → 2 GB. New files above 2 GB can no longer be sent.
- Download throttling returns on large files.
- Sponsored messages come back in public channels.
- Doubled limits revert — folders, pinned chats, channel subscriptions, saved GIFs, public usernames.
- Premium badge and name colour disappear from your profile.
- Animated profile video reverts to a static photo.
- Custom emoji can no longer be used in messages.
- Voice-to-text transcription and real-time chat translation stop working.
- Telegram Business features switch off — greeting messages, quick replies, opening hours.
- Channel boosts you were providing are withdrawn, which can drop a channel below its boost level.
What stays exactly as it was
This is the part people worry about unnecessarily:
- Your account — nothing is suspended or restricted.
- All chats and message history, unchanged.
- Files you already sent, including ones over 2 GB. They remain downloadable.
- Folders and channels above the free limit stay; you just cannot add new ones until you are back under it.
- Stickers and custom emoji packs remain in your account, temporarily unusable rather than lost.
- Your Stars balance — completely unaffected. Stars and Premium are separate products.
Renewing from Uzbekistan
The obstacle is the same one as buying it the first time: Telegram's own checkout — App Store, Google Play or @PremiumBot — wants an international card, and Uzcard and Humo are not that.
Through StarsJoy the renewal takes 2–3 minutes:
- Open @starsjoybot and choose Premium.
- Pick a term — 3, 6 or 12 months — and enter your username.
- Transfer the exact amount shown from Click, Payme, Uzum or your bank app.
- Press "I have paid". Premium reactivates in about 10 seconds and Telegram sends its own notification.
Prices: 172,000 UZS for 3 months, 232,000 for 6, 422,000 for 12. Step-by-step with screenshots: how to buy.
Renewing early vs letting it lapse
If you buy a new term while the current one is still running, the time adds on rather than replacing it — you do not lose the remaining days. So there is no reason to wait until the last moment if you know you are continuing.
If you let it lapse for a while and come back later, nothing is penalised. There is no reactivation fee and no lost state; you simply pick up where you left off.
One thing worth checking first
If Premium ended without you expecting it, check whether it was originally bought as an auto-renewing subscription through the App Store or Google Play. Those renew from a card and fail silently when the card expires or has insufficient funds. If that is what happened, either fix the card there or switch to one-off purchases — with a reseller nothing is charged in the background, which some people prefer precisely because there is no surprise.

Frequently asked questions
What happens to my account when Telegram Premium expires?
Nothing is deleted. Your account, chats, files and channels all stay exactly as they were. You lose the Premium features — the 4 GB limit drops back to 2 GB, sponsored messages return in public channels, the badge disappears and doubled limits revert.
What happens to files larger than 2 GB that I already sent?
They stay. Files already uploaded remain in your chats and stay downloadable. The 2 GB ceiling applies only to new uploads after Premium ends.
What happens if I am over the limits — too many folders or channels?
Nothing is deleted, but you cannot add more until you are back under the free limit. Existing folders and channel subscriptions above the limit remain in place; new ones are blocked.
Do I lose custom emoji and stickers I bought?
You keep them in your account but can no longer use custom emoji in messages while Premium is inactive. They become usable again the moment you renew.
Does renewing restore everything automatically?
Yes. Premium is a state, not a migration — the moment a new subscription activates, every feature returns exactly as it was, including your badge, animated avatar and raised limits.
Is there an auto-renewal through StarsJoy?
No. Purchases through a reseller are one-off, which means nothing is charged to a card in the background and there is no subscription to cancel. The trade-off is that you have to renew manually when the term ends.
